The LAB.ZEN 2 Onlus Association was established in 2008 thanks to Maruzza Battaglia, which has made available its own fashion experience, gained in many years of conducting historical clothing and tailoring stores in Palermo to Zen women (Zen area was notorious for its deep poverty, and associated social problems) who Maruzza organized and experimented with an artisanal's workshop that produces bags with the brand LAB.ZEN. Lab ZEN 2 is a workshop able to reply to market's challenges but also is a place of social redemption, appropriation of an identity and affirmation of legality. The Lab passing along social and materials obstacles, combined with the desire to do, the creativity and the skills of women coming from different backgrounds, fight for a project animated both by ideals and by a typically feminine concreteness. The outputs rewarded the product with an immediate market success. The LAB.ZEN 2 handbags have found interest and space on TV programs, weekly magazines and magazines such as Marie Claire, Vanity Fair, Zero 91, Cult, Republic, Seven Magazine of the Corriere della Sera, RAI Radio 1 and Rai News 24 and have been appreciated by many women, including internationally renowned such as Rita Dalla Chiesa, Letizia Moratti and Carolina of Monaco.
